Prayer rug is basically a special
designed piece of cloth that Muslims use for offering or saying prayer five
times a day. Here the poetess wants to show the unification of a Muslim when
he/she is on prayer rug. While you are on prayer rug you can share anything it
could be desire, sorrow and problem with God. In this poem the poetess shares
some feeling which a Muslim do have while he/she use to be on prayer rug.
This poem is written in a very
simple language. It is in blank verse. Alliteration is there like “ship or
solid stone” and “trepidation bound with the tears”.
The poems starts by describing condition
of a man sitting on the prayer rug having desires in his heart and he also
wants to repent on his some acts. He is having tears in his eyes because tears
are considered as the easiest way to get forgiveness from God.
She further says that this prayer
rug is aware with the rise and fall of man and even with his circumstances in
the past. When he traveled in ship or faced hurdles in shape if solid stones
because a Muslim always shares his things with his God whenever he comes on
prayer rug.
The last part of poem is containing
a very serious message for humanity that whiles you are on prayer rug. Don’t
pray for yourself only but pray for your nation even for humanity. And avoid for praying material thin also.
